CoupleS Therapy in plano, texas
You’ve probably tried to fix this on your own.
You’ve had conversations, made promises, maybe even said “we’ll do better next time.”
But somehow, you keep ending up in the same place:
It’s exhausting - and it can start to feel hopeless.
Couples therapy gives you a way out of that cycle.
Many couples I work with feel stuck in a pattern where:
-
one partner reaches for connection, clarity, or reassurance.
-
the other feels overwhelmed and pulls away.
The more one of you pushes, the more the other withdraws. And over time:
-
communication breaks down.
-
resentment builds.
-
emotional distance grows.
This doesn’t mean your relationship is broken. It means you’re caught in a cycle you haven’t been given the tools to shift yet.
In our work together, we don’t just talk about problems - we work directly with the pattern underneath them. You’ll learn how to:
-
recognize what’s really happening during conflict.
-
slow down reactive patterns.
-
communicate in a way your partner can actually hear.
-
rebuild emotional connection and trust.
My approach is grounded in helping you feel safer, more understood, and more connected - not just in session, but in your day-to-day relationship.
What to Expect in Couples TherapY:
Couples therapy with me is:
-
structured but flexible.
-
supportive, but also direct when needed.
-
focused on real change - not just insight.
You won’t just leave sessions understanding each other better - you’ll leave with tools you can actually use.
Gottman-Informed Couples Therapy
In my work with couples, I draw from my Gottman Level 1 Clinical Training to help partners better understand the patterns that shape their relationship. The Gottman Method is grounded in decades of research on what makes relationships succeed or struggle, and it offers practical, evidence-based tools for improving connection and communication.
In sessions, this may include helping you recognize common negative interaction patterns, strengthen friendship and emotional intimacy, and learn skills for navigating conflict in a more constructive way. The focus is not on assigning blame, but on understanding the cycle you get stuck in and creating new ways of responding to one another. This approach allows us to slow down difficult moments, increase emotional awareness, and build skills that support long-term relationship health both inside and outside of the therapy room.
You don’t have to wait until things feel “really bad.”
Many couples start therapy when they notice:
-
repeated arguments that don’t get resolved.
-
growing emotional distance.
-
difficulty communicating without it turning into conflict.
-
uncertainty about how to move forward,
The earlier you address these patterns, the easier they are to change.

Frequently Asked Questions About Couples Therapy
How do I know if couples therapy is right for us? Couples therapy can be helpful whether you're experiencing ongoing conflict, communication difficulties, emotional distance, trust concerns, or simply want to strengthen your relationship. Many couples seek therapy before problems become severe, while others come during times of significant stress or transition. Do both partners need to attend every session? In most cases, yes. Couples therapy is most effective when both partners actively participate in the process. Occasionally, individual sessions may be incorporated when clinically appropriate, but the primary focus remains on the relationship. What if we're not constantly fighting but feel disconnected? You don't have to be in crisis to benefit from couples therapy. Many couples seek support because they feel emotionally distant, struggle to prioritize their relationship, or want to rebuild connection and intimacy before problems escalate. Can couples therapy help with communication problems? Yes. Communication challenges are one of the most common reasons couples seek therapy. Together, we'll identify patterns that create misunderstandings, defensiveness, or conflict and develop healthier ways to communicate, listen, and respond to one another. What happens during the first couples therapy session? The first session focuses on understanding your relationship history, current concerns, strengths, and goals for therapy. You'll have the opportunity to share what's bringing you to counseling and what you hope will improve in your relationship. How much does a couples therapy session cost? The cost of a 50-minute couples therapy session is $225. How long does couples therapy take? The length of therapy varies depending on your goals and the concerns you're addressing. Some couples experience meaningful improvement within a few months, while others choose longer-term support to address deeper patterns and strengthen their relationship over time. Do you work with engaged couples? Yes. Premarital counseling can help couples strengthen communication, navigate expectations, discuss important life topics, and build a strong foundation before marriage. What if one partner is unsure about therapy? It's common for partners to feel differently about starting counseling. Therapy provides a nonjudgmental space to explore concerns, improve understanding, and determine what changes may help the relationship move forward. Do you offer online couples therapy? Yes. Secure online therapy is available for couples located anywhere in Texas, allowing you to attend sessions from the comfort of your home.
